KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 18 mm, 4.09 g, 12 h), Karne, Phoenicia, 225/4. Head of youthful Herakles to right, wearing lion skin. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on backless throne, holding eagle in his outstretched right hand and long scepter in his left; below throne, Phoenician letter; to left, cornucopiae; in exergue, date. Cf. Duyrat, Ateliers 35-37 = Price 3431 (tetradrachms). Rauch 97, 2015, 284 (same dies). Of great rarity, probably the second example known. Rough surfaces, otherwise. Good very fine.
