DANUBE REGION. Imitating Dyrrhachion, Circa 200-37 BC. Drachm (Silver, 19 mm, 3.06 g). Cow standing left, looking back at suckling calf standing right below; above, blundered legend; in exergue, uncertain symbol or letter. Rev. Double stellate pattern within double linear square; around, blundered legend. Very fine.

SPAIN. Punic Spain. Circa 237-209 BC. Shekel (Silver, 21 mm, 6.08 g, 1 h). Male head to left. Rev. Horse standing right; in background, palm tree; below, Punic zayin. ACIP 626. CNP 181h. Villaronga- Benages 626. Attractively centered and struck, and nicely tond. Nearly extremely fine.

CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 380-325 BC. Diobol (Silver, 13 mm, 1.26 g, 3 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing Attic helmet adorned with a hippocamp. Rev. TAPA-NT[INΩN] Herakles standing to right, fighting the Nemean lion; to left, club. HN III 914. SNG Paris 2094. Vlasto 1217. Bright, sharp and well-struck. Extremely fine.

LUCANIA. Herakleia. Circa 281-278 BC. Nomos (Silver, 19 mm, 6.51 g, 6 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing a plain crested Corinthian helmet; above, ΑΛΕ; behind, EY; below, Z. Rev. |-HPAKΛEIΩN Herakles standing left, holding club in right hand, and bow in left; draped over left arm, lion's skin. HN III 1400. Van Keuren 103. Lightly toned and well centered. Very fine.

LUCANIA. Herakleia. Circa 276-250 BC. Nomos (Silver, 21 mm, 6.69 g, 11 h). |-HPAKΛEIΩN Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet decorated with a griffin. Rev. Herakles standing left, holding jug in right hand over lighted altar at feet, and club and lion's skin in left; to right, thunderbolt. HN III 1433. Van Keuren 136 (same obverse die). Well centered and struck. Very fine.

LUCANIA. Thourioi. After 280 BC. Nomos (Silver, 20 mm, 6.28 g, 12 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet, the bowl of which is decorated with a wreath. Rev. ΘΟΥΡΙΩΝ Bull butting right; in exergue, owl alighting to right between [A] and PI. HN III 1891. McClean 1317. Nearly very fine.

BRUTTIUM. Rhegion. Circa 215-150 BC. Tetrachalkon (Bronze, 16 mm, 3.35 g, 9 h). Jugate busts of the Dioskouroi right, wearing laureate piloi. Rev. PHΓINΩN Hermes standing facing, head turned to left, holding olive branch in right hand and kerykeion in left; to left, IIII (mark of value). HGC 1, 1718 (R1). HN III 2558. Silberstein, VIII-3, Group A. Attractive green patina. Very fine.

SICILY. Akragas. Circa 450-446/39 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 23 mm, 16.89 g, 3 h). AKRAC-ANTOΣ Eagle standing left with closed wings. Rev. Crab; below, lotos flower with tendrils; all within a shallow circular incuse. SNG ANS 982-3 (same obverse die). Westermark, Period II, Group III, 412 (O15/R76). Rare type. Light porosity, otherwise, very fine.

SICILY. Akragas. Phintias, tyrant, 287-279 BC. Unit (Bronze, 23 mm, 6.85 g, 1 h). Beardless and laureate head of Zeus Hellanios right. Rev. Two eagles standing left, clutching hare in talons. CNS 125. HGC 2, 159. SNG ANS 1128. Pre-strike flan casting bubbles on reverse , otherwise, very fine.

SICILY. Gela. Circa 490/85-480/75 BC. Didrachm (Silver, 20 mm, 8.61 g, 9 h). Bearded horseman, nude, riding to right, brandishing spear in his upraised right hand. Rev. CΕΛΑΣ Forepart of man-headed bull to right. Jameson 576 (same obverse die). Jenkins 73.1 (Ο22/Ρ35 this coin). SNG Copenhagen 257 (same dies). Attractive light toning. Very fine.

Sicily, Gela. Circa 465-450 BC. Litra (Silver, 12mm, 0.86 g 3). Horse walking right; above, wreath. Rev. ΓΕΛΑΣ Forepart of Acheloos as a man-headed bull to right. Jenkins, Gela 330. Well centered but with a lightly struck obverse. Somewhat rough surfaces. Very fine.

SICILY. Kamarina. Circa 425-405 BC. Tetras (Bronze, 14 mm, 2.90 g, 12 h). Head of Athena to left, wearing crested Corinthian helmet. Rev. KAMA Owl standing left, grasping lizard in talons. HGC 2, 548. CNS 34. Westermark & Jenkins 200. SNG ANS 1228-9. Dark green patin. Very fine.

SICILY. Leontini. Circa 450-440 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 16.74 g, 4 h). Laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev. ∠Ε-ΟΝ-ΤΙ-ΝΟ-Ν Head of a lion with open jaws to right; around, four barley grains. Boehringer, Münzgeschichte 38. Attractive, clear and sharp, with a dark patina as found. Some striking flatness on both sides, otherwise, extremely fine.

SICILY. Leontini. Circa 450-440 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 16.92 g, 12 h). Laureate head of Apollo to left, his hair bound up at the back. Rev. ΛΕΟΝΤΙΝΟΝ Head of a lion with open jaws to left; around, four barley grains. Boehringer, Münzgeschichte 51 (same obverse die). SNG ANS 234 (same obverse die). Toned. Light die-rust, otherwise, good very fine.

THRACE. Abdera. Circa 450-425 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 14.81 g, 3 h), struck under the magistrate Histiaios. Griffin springing to left. Rev. ΕΠΙ ΙΣΤΙ-AΙ-Ο: in shallow incuse square around quadripartite square in relief. HGC 3.2, 1136 var. (magistrate not noted). May, Abdera Period IV, but magistrate not noted. Unpublished magistrate. Scratches on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.

ΙΜΒΡ - ΙΩΝ Draped female figure standing facing, her veiled head turned to right, raising her right hand and holding a cornucopia with her left. BMC 8. SNG Copenhagen 966. Rare. Clear and well-struck. Very fine.

Nude, ithyphallic satyr rushing to right in the archaic kneeling-running position, holding a nymph in his arms who raises her right hand in protest. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. HGC 6, 331. HGC 3.1, 306. Cf. SNG ANS 939-43 (all slightly different). Rare. Struck from a worn obverse die, otherwise, very fine.

MACEDON. Olophyxos. Circa 450 BC. Obol (Silver, 8 mm, 0.57 g, 6 h). Eagle(?) standing left. Rev. Kithara within incuse square. SNG Copenhagen 145 (as Delphi). Tzamalis 68 var. (as uncertain Thraco-Macedonian, but eagle to right). Perfectly centered and very rare, possibly unique with eagle to left. Faint scratches in fields, otherwise, very fine.

MACEDON. Amphipolis. late 5th-early 4th century BC. Obol (Silver, 7 mm, 0.41 g, 12 h). Male head to right (Apollo?), wearing tainia. Rev. A-M-Φ-I Perch swimming diagonally downwards to right. HGC 3, 416. Lorber Group II, 69? (O.o.3/R.o.3?). SNG ANS 83-4. Perfectly centered. Good very fine.
