KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 35 mm, 16.55 g, 12 h), struck posthumously, Temnos, c. 188-170. Head of youthful Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on backless throne, holding eagle in his right hand and scepter in his left; to left, above Zeus’s lap, two monograms; to left, vine-tendril with grapes around an oenochoe. Price 1686. SNG Saroglos 428. Nicely centered on a large flan. Scratch and slightly rough area on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
