L.MVSSIDIVS.LONGVS The shrine of Venus Cloacina inscribed CLOACIN: depicted is a low platform of galley-like form, with steps and a tripod to left, two statues of Venus at the center and a low column to right. Babelon (Mussidia) 7. Crawford 494/43a. CRI 189. Sydenham 1094. Nicely toned and unusually nice. Extremely fine.


An extremely nice example of this famous coin, with its reverse commemorating the building of the great drain of Rome, the cloaca maxima.
