IONIA. Uncertain mint. Circa 650-600 BC. 1/12 Stater (Electrum, 7 mm, 1.07 g). Geometric pattern consisting of a curved-sided parallelogram with decorations in the outer curves and a central pellet. Rev. Irregular square incuse punch. Weidauer-. Rosen - (but cf. 264 for a hekte of similar design). SNG Kayhan -. Extremely rare, well-centered and most interesting to the parallelogram collector, as this appears to be the earliest known example of a parallelogram on a coin. In great demand. About extremely fine.
