Fine style Macedonian Distater from Amphipolis
KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Distater (Gold, 22 mm, 17.23 g, 1 h), Amphipolis, circa 325-319. Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet decorated with a coiled serpent. Rev. AΛEΞANΔΡOΥ Nike standing left, holding wreath in her right hand and stylis in her left; to left, kantharos. Price 167. Rare, well-centered and clear. A few very minor deposits, otherwise, about extremely fine.
