SPAIN. Bolskan - Osca. Circa 150-100 BC. Denarius (Silver, 17 mm, 3.88 g, 12 h). Bo Bearded male head to right, wearing pearl necklace. Rev. BoLSCaN Horseman with couched lance galloping to right. ACIP 1417. SNG BM Spain 710-33. Well-centered, sharply struck, and attractively toned. Extremely fine.

CELTIC, Central Europe. Vindelici. Circa 1st century BC. Stater or ’Regenbogenschüsselchen’ (Gold, 20 mm, 7.76 g, 7 h), 'Rolltier' type. Convex surface with ’Rolltier’ to left. Rev. Torques encircling five large pellets. Flesche 283. Kellner type I A. One of the finest known examples. Attractive rose-gold toning. Somewhat weakly struck, otherwise, extremely fine.

CELTIC, Central Europe. Vindelici. Circa 2nd-1st century BC. Quarter Stater (Gold, 12 mm, 1.87 g). Almost obliterated celticized male head, with a large eye still discernible. Rev. Cross within a concave surface. Castelin 1085. De la Tour 9454. Dembski 464. Kellner type V A 2158. Rare. Very fine.

ETRURIA. Populonia. Circa 211-206 BC. 25 Asses (Gold, 13 mm, 1.40 g), struck during the Second Punic War. X - XV Lion's head to right, with open jaws and protruding tongue. Rev. Blank. HN III 128. SNG ANS 2. SNG Copenhagen 36. Vecchi I, 21.14 (this coin). Rare. Well-struck, sharp and attractive. Extremely fine.

LUCANIA. Velia. Circa 535-465 BC. Drachm (Silver, 16 mm, 3.89 g). Forepart of lion to right, gnawing on stag’s leg. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. Dewing 451. HN III 1259. SNG ANS 1208-1210. SNG Delepierre 399. Williams Velia 16a (O10/R5 this coin). Lightly toned and attractive. Extremely fine.

SICILY. Syracuse. Hieronymos, 215-214 BC. 5 Litrai (Silver, 17.5 mm, 4.26 g, 7 h). Diademed head of Hieronymos to left. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ - IEPΩNYMOY Winged thunderbolt; above, ΞA. Holloway 60 (same dies). SNG Lloyd 1566. Very attractively toned and with an elegant portrait of an unworthy ruler. Extremely fine.

CARTHAGE. c. 290-270 BC. Stater (Electrum, 18.5 mm, 7.39 g, 12 h). Head of Tanit to left, wearing grain wreath, triple pendant earring and pearl necklace with ten pendants. Rev. Horse standing to right; on ground line to right, pellet. Jenkins & Lewis Group VI, 318-20 (different dies). SNG Copenhagen 977. Well-centered and with light luster present. Extremely fine.

THRACE. Abdera. Circa 411/10 - 386/5 BC. Tetrobol (Silver, 15 mm, 2.85 g, 1 h), struck under the magistrate Proteus, 366-365. ABΔ Griffin springing to left. Rev. EΠI ΠPΩTEΩ around three grain-ears within a linear square. AMNG II 124. HGC 3.2, 1218. May 361 (A261/P302, this coin). Attractive old collection toning. Nearly extremely fine.

THRACE. Abdera. Circa 375/3-365/0 BC. Stater (Silver, 24 mm, 11.36 g, 6 h), struck under the magistrate Pausanias. ΕΠΙ / ΠΑΥΣΑΝΙΩ Griffin seated to left, right forepaw raised. Rev. ΑΒΔΗΡΙ / ΤΕΩΝ Laureate head of Apollo to right. May, Abdera 465-481 (A313/P380 but this die combination unrecorded). Clear, attractive and lightly toned. Nearly extremely fine.

THRACE. Ainos. Circa 429-427/6 BC. Diobol (Silver, 12 mm, 1.26 g, 6 h). Head of Hermes wearing petasos to right. Rev. AIN Goat standing to right; to right, vine tendril; all within shallow incuse. May, Ainos 182 (A105/P130, this coin). SNG Copenhagen 405. Dark old collection toning. About extremely fine.

ISLANDS OFF THRACE, Thasos. Circa 412-404 BC. Drachm (Silver, 16 mm, 3.70 g). Ithyphallic satyr advancing partly to right, carrying protesting nymph. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. HGC 6, 336. Le Rider, Thasiennes 8. Attractively toned, and struck from an obverse die of particularly refined, Classical style. Small edge split, otherwise, good very fine.

THRACO-MACEDONIAN TRIBES, Mygdones or Krestones. Circa 490-485 BC. 1/8 Stater (Silver, 12 mm, 1.08 g). Goat kneeling right on pelleted ground line, his head turned back to left; above and to right, pellet. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. SNG ANS 59ff (as Aigai). SNG Copenhagen 31. A pleasing little coin with a vigorous goat. About extremely fine.

THRACO-MACEDONIAN REGION. Siris. Circa 500-490 BC. Trihemiobol or 1/8 Stater (Silver, 11 mm, 1.07 g). Nude satyr seated right with his knees up before him; to left and right, pellet. Rev. Diagonally divided incuse square. SNG ANS 971-973. Svoronos pl. VIII, 13-17. Perfectly centered and exceptionally well-struck for the type. Extremely fine.

MACEDON. Neapolis. Circa 500-480 BC. Stater (Silver, 20 mm, 9.01 g). Gorgoneion with gnashing teeth and protruding tongue. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. Dewing 1063. SNG ANS 403-4. Svoronos HPM pl. 9, 31. Darkly toned, well-centered and well-struck. Some roughness, otherwise, about extremely fine.

MACEDON. Neapolis. Circa 500-480 BC. Stater (Silver, 20 mm, 9.52 g), c. 500. Facing Gorgoneion with gnashing teeth and extended tongue. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. Dewing 1063. SNG ANS 403-404. Svoronos HPM pl. 9, 31. Boldly struck. Some roughness and struck on a narrow flan, otherwise, good very fine.

THESSALY. Phalanna. Circa 360-340 BC. Trihemiobol (Silver, 11 mm, 1.23 g, 3 h). Youthful male head to right with short, curly hair, perhaps Peloros (?). Rev. ΦΑΛ-ΑΝ-Ν-ΑΙΩ-Ν Bridled horse trotting right, with curly tail. BCD Thessaly II 571 (same dies). HGC 4, 168. Toned, clear and quite attractive. Some porosity, otherwise, good very fine.

ILLYRIA. Uncertain city. 4th-2nd century BC. Weight of 1 Mna (Bronze, 65x67x18 mm, 389.00 g, 12 h), an ingot-shaped bronze weight with an impressive high relief head of a boar. Head of a boar to left, with protruding ear. Rev. Blank. Tekin, Balance Weights, -. Rare and impressive. Beautifully made and with a fine, green patina. Light cleaning marks. Good very fine.

AKARNANIA. Leukas. Circa 350-320 BC. Stater (Silver, 22 mm, 8.55 g, 3 h). Λ Pegasos flying to left. Rev. Helmeted head of Athena to left; behind, two knotted cords. BCD Akarnania -. BMC 83. Cammann 25. Pegasi 124-125. Well-centered, clear and lightly toned. Graffito of ΛΙΝΓ in the obverse field, below Pegasos, otherwise, good very fine.
