SICILY. Syracuse. Second Democracy, 466-405 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24 mm, 17.02 g, 8 h), signed by the engravers Euth… on the obverse and Eumenes on the reverse, circa 415-405. Winged Eros driving fast quadriga to right; above, Nike flying to left, crowning him; in exergue, Skylla swimming to right, holding trident over her left shoulder and pointing to right; behind Skylla, dolphin swimming to right; over Skylla's extended hand (here off the flan), EYΘ. Rev. ΣYPAKO-ΣIΩN Head of Arethusa to left, wearing grain wreath and necklace with a lion's head pendant; around, four dolphins swimming clockwise; below neck truncation, EYM.
