BRUTTIUM. Kroton. Circa 280-277 BC. Nomos (Silver, 21.5 mm, 6.57 g, 8 h). Φ Ι Eagle, its head turned back to left, standing right on thunderbolt; to right, terminal figure of Hermes holding phiale in his right hand and kerykeion in his left. Rev. ΚΡΟ Tripod lebes on base; to left, Nike flying to right, holding, with both hands, a wreath to crown the tripod. HN III 2181. Jameson 431. SNG ANS 409. A handsome, toned example of this scarce type. Obverse lightly double-struck, otherwise, extremely fine.
