LUCANIA. Velia. Circa 340-334 BC. Nomos (Silver, 20.5 mm, 7.55 g, 5 h), from the Kleudoros Group. Head of Athena to left, wearing Phrygian helmet decorated with centauress on bowl and scroll on neck guard; behind neck guard, monogram of ΚΛΕΥ. Rev. YEΛΗΤΩΝ Lion standing left with right foreleg raised; above, Φ; below, monogram of ΚΛΕΥ. HN III 1291. Williams 311b (O170/R232+, this coin). SNG Ashmolean 1249 (same obverse die). Nice old toning, and with a pedigree going back to 1903. Some old scratches around the design on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
