AITOLIA, Aitolian League. Circa 250-225 BC. Stater (Silver, 26.5 mm, 10.43 g, 6 h). Head of Apollo to right, wearing oak wreath; below neck, ΦΙ. Rev. ΑΙΤΩΛΩΝ Aitolos, nude but for his petasos, hanging from its neck strap down his back, his sword, in its scabbard under his left arm and his chlamys draped over his right leg, standing left, holding his spear in his right hand and with his right foot propped on a boulder; in field to left, Δ. BCD Akarnania 444. BMC 10. De Laix 72, 12. Tsangari 737 (D24/R73 this coin). A remarkably sharp and attractive example, struck on a broad flan. Very minor die rust on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
