THRACE. Abdera. Circa 473/0-449/8 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 14.98 g). ΚΑ-ΛΛ-ΙΔΑ-ΜΑΣ Griffin seated to left, raising his right foreleg; below, tunny to left. Rev. ΑΒΔ-ΗΡ-ΙΤΕ-ΩΝ Quadripartite linear square within an incuse square. AMNG 61. Kraay-Hirmer 427. May, Abdera 146d (A120/P119, this coin). SNG Copenhagen. A particularly attractive and dramatic example, beautifully toned and with an impressive pedigree. Nearly extremely fine.
