LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 215-207 BC. Half Shekel (Silver, 20 mm, 3.51 g, 3 h), Punic standard. Head of Athena to right, wearing Corinthian helmet. Rev. ΜΕΤΑ Grain ear with leaf to right; on leaf, owl facing, turned slightly to right and with spread wings. HN III 1634. SNG ANS 550. A lovely toned example. Extremely fine.

From the Molard Collection, Switzerland, acquired from Roma in London in 2014, and from the collection of A. D. Moretti, Numismatica Ars Classica 29, 11 May 2005, 45.

This is very possibly the finest example of this type known.
