CYPRUS. Uncertain mint, but possibly Ledra (or Ledroi). Unknown King, 500-480 BC. Drachm (Silver, 13.5 mm, 3.51 g, 10 h). Helmeted male head to left; scattered cypro-syllabic legend. Rev. Winged female figure in kneeling-running stance to left, holding solar disk on her chest. Unpublished and unique as a drachm! For a Siglos, sharing the same reverse die as this example, from the Damanhur hoard, currently in the Berlin coin cabinet, see Dressel - K. Regling, Zwei altägyptische Funde altgriechischer Silbermünzen, ZfN 37, 1927, 130, pl. 2. = SilCoinCy A1377 var. (same reverse die but different denomination). Another coin is currently in the Lefkosia Archaeological Museum. For a slightly later issue of a siglos see Leu (Wintherthur) 19, (2025), lot 78 but the worn male head on the obverse was unnoticed, and the coin was misattributed as a result. Extremely rare and apparently unpublished. Toned. Porous surfaces, otherwise, about very fine.
The attribution of this series to Ledra, is by far not certain.
