PONTOS. Amisos. Time of Mithradates VI Eupator, circa 85-65 BC. (Bronze, 21 mm, 8.87 g, 1 h). Head of young Dionysos to right, wearing ivy wreath. Rev. ΑΜΙΣΟΥ Panther skin and thyrsos on cista mystica; to left and right of cista, monograms. HGC 7, 243. Malloy 26g. SNG BM Black Sea 1209. About extremely fine.



In his study 'The Coinage of Amisus', Malloy described the rendering of Dionysos on the obverse as 'bearing a resemblance to Mithradates Eupater'.
