BRUTTIUM. Kroton. Circa 360 BC. Nomos (Silver, 22 mm, 7.56 g, 1 h). Head of Hera Lakinia three-quarters facing, turned slightly to the right, wearing stephane ornamented with palmettes. Rev. ΚΡΟ[ΤΩΝΙΑΤΑΝ] Youthful Herakles seated to left on a rock draped with his lion's skin, holding a one-handled cup in his right hand and resting his left on his club; below, bow. Basel 198. HN III 2167. SNG ANS 371. SNG Lloyd 616. SNG Oxford 1521-1522. Beautifully toned and with a splendid obverse. Struck on an oblong flan with the result that the figure of Herakles on the reverse is unfortunately without head, otherwise, extremely fine.

Ex Nomos 19, 17 November 2019, 41 and from a Swiss collection, acquired prior to 2005.
