CAMPANIA. Neapolis. Circa 320-300 BC. Nomos (Silver, 19 mm, 7.17 g, 11 h). Diademend head of nymph to right, wearing triple-pendant earring and pearl necklace; behind neck, X. Rev. ΝΕΟΠΟΛΙΤΗΣ Man-headed bull walking right; above, Nike flying right, placing wreath on bull's head; below, EYΞ. HN III 579. Sambon 477. SNG BN 749 (same dies). Good fine.

CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 380-325 BC. Diobol (Silver, 12 mm, 1.25 g, 2 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing Attic helmet adorned with Skylla hurling a stone. Rev. Herakles kneeling to right, fighting the Nemean lion; above to right, strigil; behind, club. HN III 976. Vlasto 1329. Nicely centered. Very fine.

CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 280-228 BC. Obol (Silver, 10 mm, 0.41 g, 5 h). Kantharos. Rev. Kantharos with three pellets in the field. HN III 1076. SNG ANS -. Vlasto 1652 var. (same dies as Künker 304, 2018, 114). Toned. Minor surface faults on the reverse, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.

CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 280-228 BC. Obol (Silver, 9 mm, 0.49 g, 9 h). Kantharos, flanked by two stars below. Rev. Kantharos, flanked by two stars below. HN III 1076. Vlasto 1654 var. Nicely toned; unpublished with stars on the obverse and reverse sides. Very fine.

LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 470-440 BC. Stater (Silver, 19.5 mm, 8.33 g, 12 h). ΜΕΤΑ Six-grained barley ear; border of dots. Rev. Six-grained barley ear, as above but without legend and incuse; rayed border. HN III 1484. Noe 233-9. Very attractively toned. Some deposits on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.

LUCANIA. Paestum (Poseidonia). period of the Second Punic War, 218-201 BC. Triens (Bronze, 19 mm, 4.10 g, 4 h). Female head to right, wearing ivy wreath, with mark of value (••••) behind her neck. Rev. ΠAIS Cornucopia to left, with mark of value (••••) and small branch to left. Crawford, Paestum 6/1. HN Italy 1196. Green patina. Rough area on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.

LUCANIA. Thourioi. Circa 400-350 BC. Stater (Silver, 23 mm, 7.58 g, 10 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing helmet adorned with Skylla holding oar(?) and pointing to right. Rev. ΘΟΥΡΙΩΝ Bull butting to right; in the exergue, fish swimming to right. HN III 1800. SNG ANS 1014 (same obverse die). Nicely toned and well-centered. Some tiny scratches and marks, otherwise, very fine.

BRUTTIUM. The Brettii. Circa 214-211 BC. Drachm (Bronze, 21.5 mm, 7.87 g, 1 h). Laureate head of Zeus to right; behind, grain ear(?). Rev. ΒΡΕΤ-ΤΙΩΝ Eagle standing left on thunderbolt, wings displayed; in left field, cornucopiae. Scheu, Bronze 13. HN III 1978. Brown patina, well centered and struck. Good very fine.

BRUTTIUM. Kaulonia. Circa 400-389/8 BC. Stater (Silver, 21 mm, 7.73 g, 1 h). Apollo standing to right; behind, bird trap. Rev. ΚΑΥΛΩΝΙΑΤΑΣ (retrograde) Stag to right. HN III 2062. Noe, Caulonia 181. SNG ANS 214 (same dies). SNG Lockett 594. Toned and scarce. Good fine.

BRUTTIUM. Rhegion. Circa 420-415/410 BC. Litra (Silver, 11 mm, 0.74 g, 5 h). Lion’s mask facing. Rev. PH Olive sprig, with two leaves and two berries. Herzfelder pl. VII, H. HN III 2495. SNG ANS 670. Well centered. Rough surfaces, otherwise, good very fine.

SICILY. Agyrion. Circa 430 BC. (Bronze, 15 mm, 2.73 g, 6 h). APΓYPINAION Head of Herakles to left, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΠAΛAΓKAIOΣ Forepart of a man-headed bull to left. Buceti 5b. CNS 9. HGC 2, 60. Dark green patina. Somewhat rough surfaces, otherwise, very fine.

SICILY. Entella. Roman rule, circa 263-36 BC. (Bronze, 18.5 mm, 3.17 g, 12 h), c. 125-75. Head of youthful Dionysos to right, wearing ivy wreath. Rev. ENTEΛΛINωN around grape cluster on stem. CNS 19. HGC 2, 241. Dark green patina; particularly fine and clear details for this late issue. Obverse struck from a slightly worn die, otherwise, good very fine.

SICILY. Gela. Circa 450-440 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 17.42 g, 5 h). Quadriga driven slowly to right by a bearded charioteer; above, Nike flying right to crown the horses; in exergue, palmette with tendrils. Rev. ϹΕΛΑΣ Forepart of man-headed bull to right. Jenkins Group IV, 359 (O69/R143). SNG ANS 66 (same dies). Toned. Die-flaw on reverse, otherwise, good very fine.

SICILY. Gela. Circa 420-405 BC. Tetras (Bronze, 16 mm, 3.19 g, 3 h). ΓΕΛΑΣ Bull walking slowly to the right; in exergue, three pellets. Rev. Head of youthful male river god (Gelas) to right; behind, barley grain. HGC 2, 380. Jenkins, Gela 530. Attractive green patina. Very fine.

SICILY. Gela. Circa 339-310 BC. Tetras (Bronze, 14 mm, 2.09 g, 2 h). Wreathed head of Demeter facing slightly right. Rev. Wreathed head of Gelas left. CNS 59. HGC 2, 388. Jenkins, Gela Group XII, 549. Dark green patina. Rough surfaces, otherwise, very fine.

SICILY. Katane. Circa 450-445 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 16.95 g, 12 h). Charioteer driving quadriga moving slowly to right, holding goad in his right hand and reins in both. Rev. ΚΑΤΑΝΑ-Ι-Ο-Ν Laureate head of Apollo to right. HGC 2, 566. SNG ANS 1242 (same dies). SNG Lloyd 891 (same obverse die). Lightly toned and with clear types. Light porosity and scratches, otherwise, nearly very fine.

SICILY. Nakone. Circa 420-400 BC. Onkia (Bronze, 11 mm, 0.93 g, 6 h). NAKONAION Head of a nymph to right, her hair bound in a fillet, wearing single-pendant earring and necklace. Rev. Goat standing to right; before, ivy leaf; above, acorn and pellet (value mark). CNS 2. HGC 2, 957. Very rare. Dark brown patina. Rough surfaces, otherwise, very fine.

SICILY. Uncertain Roman mint. Circa 200-190 BC. As (Bronze, 22 mm, 5.76 g, 12 h), Lilybaion (?). Laureate head of Janus. Rev. Monogram of ΠΟR within wreath. BAR Issue -. CNS 67 (Panormos). HGC 2, 1690. Well centered, and with a dark green patina. Very fine.

SICILY. Segesta. Circa 415-400 BC. Litra (Subaeratus, 11 mm, 0.63 g, 7 h). Facing head of the nymph Segesta, facing slightly to left, flanked by laurel branches. Rev. EΓES-T-A-ION Dog standing left; above, facing gorgoneion; to left, conch shell. HGC 2, 1174. Hurter K29-30. SNG ANS 651. Core exposed, otherwise, about extremely fine.

SICILY. Selinos. Circa 455-409 BC. Litra (Silver, 12 mm, 0.66 g, 9 h), c. 410. Nymph seated left on rock, grasping, with her right hand, snake coiled before her. Rev. ΣEΛINOΣ Man-headed bull to right; fish to right in exergue; c/m: head of nymph(?) to right within circular incuse. HGC 2, 1229. SNG ANS 711-2. Unusual with countermark. Light porosity, otherwise, very fine.

SICILY. Soloi. 400-350 BC. Onkion (Bronze, 15 mm, 2.17 g, 6 h). Head of Athena facing, head turned slightly to right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet. Rev. 'kfr' (Punic) Archer kneeling right, drawing bow. Campana 12A. CNS 5. HGC 2, 1254. SNG ANS 740 ff. Very scarce. Light green patina. Very fine.

SICILY. Syracuse. Dionysios I, 405-367 BC. Litra (Bronze, 21 mm, 8.55 g, 5 h), circa 390. ΣYPA Head of Athena left, wearing laureate Corinthian helmet. Rev. Bridled hippocamp swimming left. CNS 34. HGC 2, 1456. Well centered and with dark green patina. Very fine.

Pegasos flying left; below, Δ(?). Buceti 646. CNS 85. HGC 2, 1486 (Agathokles). Attractive head of Apollo. Rough areas, primarily on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.

ΣΩΤΕΙΡΑ Head of Artemis Soteira to right, wearing single-pendant earring and pearl necklace and with her quiver over her shoulder. Rev. ΑΓΑΘΟΚΛΕΟΣ / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΟΣ Winged thunderbolt. BAR issue 20. ΣΥΡΑΚΟΣΙΩΝ Athena Promachos advancing tο right, wielding thunderbolt held aloft in her right hand, shield on her left arm. BAR Issue 52, CNS 176. HGC 2, 1450. Dark green and brown patina. Very fine.

ΙΕΡΩΝΟΣ Helmeted cavalryman riding horse prancing to right, holding couched lance with his right hand; below right, monogram of ΑΡ. BAR Issue 62. CNS 195. HGC 2, 1548. Dark brown patina. Surfaces slightly rough, otherwise, very fine.

CARTHAGE. Circa 350-320 BC. Stater (Gold, 17.5 mm, 9.36 g, 12 h). Head of Tanit to left, wearing triple pendant earring, necklace, tied at the back and hung with eight pendants, and a wreath of grain leaves. Rev. Horse standing to right; in field to right, before horse’s fore legs, three pellets arranged as an inverted triangle; below horse's belly, pellet. Jenkins & Lewis Group IIIa, 8 (same dies?). Good very fine.

CARTHAGE. Circa 290-270 BC. Stater (Electrum, 18 mm, 7.49 g, 12 h). Head of Tanit to left, wearing grain wreath, triple-pendant earring and pearl necklace with ten pendants. Rev. Horse standing to right on ground line. Jenkins & Lewis Group VI, 307-8 and 311 (different dies). Pozzi 3308-9. Well cenetered. About extremely fine.

CARTHAGE. Second Punic War. Circa 220-205 BC. (Bronze, 18 mm, 3.47 g, 9 h), Sardinia. Wreathed head of Tanit to left. Rev. Bull standing right; above, star; to right, Punic mem. CNP 377r. MAA -. SNG Copenhagen 387-8 var (Punic letters). Green patina. Cleaning marks on obverse, small pit on reverse, otherwise, very fine.

THRACE. Apollonia Pontika. 3rd-2nd centuries BC. (Bronze, 22 mm, 8.21 g, 12 h). Laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev. AΠOΛΛΩNOΣ IATPOY Cult statue of Apollo Iatros standing to facing, head left, holding branch in right hand and bow with arrow in left. Cf. HGC 3.2, 1338. Löbbecke, ZfN 15 (1887), 38. THRACE. Byzantion. Circa 387/6-340 BC. Drachm or siglos (Silver, 15 mm, 3.63 g). ΠY Heifer standing left on dolphin left; below raised foreleg, monogram. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square with stippled surface. Schönert-Geiss, Byzantion Group VII, 739-45. Good very fine.
