KINGS of MACEDON. Philip III Arrhidaios, 323-317 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17mm, 4.25 g 12), in the name of Alexander III, Teos, c. 323-319. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on backless throne, holding eagle in his right hand and long scepter with his left; in left field, below, palm branch tied with fillets; in exergue, [spear-head]. Price 2259. A most attractive piece with a lovely iridescent tone. Extremely fine.
