LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 400-340 BC. Didrachm or nomos (Silver, 21 mm, 7.86 g, 11 h). Youthful head of Dionysos to left, wearing a diadem adorned with a maeander pattern and upright ivy-leaves; below chin, E. Rev. ΜΕΤΑ Barley ear with leaf to left. HN III 1531. Noe 454 (same dies). SNG ANS 344 (same obverse die). A coin of splendid style, well centered and struck on a broad flan. Nicely toned. Very fine.
