KINGS OF ARMENIA. Tigranes II ‘the Great’, 95-56 BC. Chalkous (Bronze, 15 mm, 2.11 g, 12 h), third series, Tigranokerta, c. 80-68. Diademed and draped bust of Tigranes II to right, wearing five-pointed tiara decorated with a star between two eagles. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ BAΣIΛEΩN TIΓPANOY Cornucopia filled with fruits and bound with fillet; A and ΔΗ monograms across the fields. ACV 96. Kovacs 87 (this obverse die). Struck on a broad flan, with a spectacular reverse. Minor rough areas on the obverse, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
