ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΡΣΑΜΟΥ Arsames on horseback to right holding spear against two attacking soldiers; beneath his horse, fallen enemy soldier . ACV 3. CAA 2. Kovacs 1. Struck on a broad flan. Nearly very fine.

ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΡΣΑΜΟΥ Arsames on horseback to right, preparing to cast spear at leaping lion to right. ACV 2. CAA 2. Kovacs 2 (same dies). Fine dark patina. Struck on a tight flan, otherwise, good very fine.

Traces of overstriking on reverse, otherwise, very fine.

Apparently unpublished and with a most interesting die link with Kovacs 3. Good very fine.

Carefully doublestruck reverse, otherwise, good very fine.

KINGS OF SOPHENE. Uncertain ruler, 3rd-2nd centuries BC. Tetrachalkon (Bronze, 21 mm, 6.81 g, 12 h). Head of Armenian king to right, wearing bashlyk. Rev. Bust of Arsacid ruler (?) to right, wearing bashlyk. Apparently unpublished and unique. Extremely rare and academically important coin. Good fine.

ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ APKAΘIOY Nike standing right, holding wreath in her right hand; countermark of Aramaic p at left field. ACV -. CAA -. Kovacs 22. Kovacs 28 for countermark. Very rare. Good fine.

KINGS OF SOPHENE. Mithradates I, 2nd half of 2nd century BC. Chalkous (Bronze, 10.5 mm, 0.83 g, 5 h). Diademed head of Mithradates I to left, wearing bashlyk tied with diadem. Rev. Lion walking slowly to left. ACV -. Kovacs 28. A great rarity in the Sophene series and completely unpublished prior to Kovacs in 2016. About very fine.

Very rare, Kovacs in 2016 records only one example. Some uncleaned deposits on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.

ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΜΕΓΑΛΟΥ ΤΙΓΡΑΝΟΥ Tigranes in biga charging to left. ACV 136. Alram 212. CAA 141. Kovacs 61. Extremely rare; the better of the two available examples. Some rough areas on the reverse, otherwise, nearly very fine.

ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΜΕΓΑΛΟΥ [ΤΙΓΡΑΝΟΥ] Tigranes riding to left, ready to throw spear. ACV 148 corr. CAA -. Kovacs 62. Extremely rare type. Some roughness, otherwise, about very fine.

Diademed and draped bust of Tigranes II to right, wearing five-pointed tiara decorated with a star. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ TIΓPANOY / ΔH-MO Horse grazing to right. ACV -. CAA -. Kovacs 97 (this obverse die). YTN 213. Struck slightly off center, otherwise, very fine.

An unusual and enigmatic coin, completely unpublished and unknown. Some rough areas, otherwise, very fine.

ACV 89. Kovacs 172.1. With a lovely portrait of Tigranes III. Stripped patina, otherwise, good very fine.

Diademed, draped, and bearded bust of Tigranes to right, wearing tiara decorated with three eagles. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΤΙΓΡΑΝΟΥ ΜΕΓΑΛΟΥ Elephant walking slowly to left with raised trunk. ACV 172. CAA 150. Kovacs 183. Well centered and clear; very rare. Very fine.

Retrograde legend starting at 12h Five-pointed Armenian tiara to left; star to right, Δ below to left. Rev. legend starting at 1h Horse prancing to right. ACV - (cf. 244 var.). Kovacs 192. Slightly rough surfaces, otherwise, about very fine.
