Voltolina 937. Very rare. With an attractive brown tone and a striking portrait of the Doge . Extremely fine.



This medal was commissioned by the Doge’s son,l Federico Corner (1579-1653), who had been made a cardinal in 1626. He was, in fact, Patriarch of Venice from 1631-1644; his brother was Francesco Corner, who had the shortest rule of any doge (19 days, 17 May-5 June 1656).
