KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 16 mm, 4.25 g, 8 h), Amphipolis (?), 325-322. Head of youthful Herakles wearing a lionskin headdress to right. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑ-ΝΔΡΟΥ Eagle, with closed wings and his head turned back to left, standing to right on a burning torch with flames to right. Gillet 789 = Pozzi (Boutin) 1718 = Price 151 = Troxell, Studies, E. 168 (this coin). Very rare. Finely toned, well-centered and most attractive. Extremely fine.
