MACEDON. Aphytis. Circa late 420s-380 BC. Tetrobol (Silver, 14 mm, 2.01 g, 6 h). Bearded head of Ares to right, wearing Attic helmet with the cheek guard folded upwards and with a tendril on the bowl and above the visor. Rev. ΦΥ - ΤΑΙ - ΟΝ (retrograde) on a raised border around a shallow incuse square containing a vine with five bunches of grapes; all within a deeper incuse square. AMNG III, 2 p. 44, 1 and pl. XXVII, 44 = Naster, de Hirsch, 964 (same dies). Pozzi (Boutin) 2247 (this coin). Of great rarity, a remarkable coin, of fine style, perfectly centered, well-struck and attractively toned. Extremely fine.
