KYRENAIKA. Kyrene. Circa 500-480 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24 mm, 16.06 g, 5 h), on the Rhodian weight standard. Silphium plant with four leaves (two on each side), three flowers (one at the top and one between each pair of leaves), and two fruits flanking the stem. Rev. Κ Gazelle standing to left, facing a silphium plant; above his back, silphium fruit with its point upwards; all within an incuse square. BMC 15a and pl. III, 6 = Traité II, 1, 2012 and pl. LXIV, 11 (same dies). Very rare. Well-centered, with an especially clear obverse. Reverse struck from a damaged die, otherwise, good very fine.
