ISLANDS OFF CARIA, Rhodos. Rhodes. Circa 360-340 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 23 mm, 14.99 g, 12 h). Head of Helios facing slightly to right. Rev. ΡΟΔΙΩΝ Rose with bud to right; below to left, wasp moving to right; in the inner field to right, A; all within an incuse square. Ashton, Rhodes, 81. Hecatomnus 205 (A-/P139, obverse die unrecorded). HGC 6, 1420. Karl -. SNG Keckman -. Darkly toned as found, clear and attractive and with a very rare and unusual symbol. Some traces of die rust, otherwise, good very fine.
