SICILY. Himera. Circa 420-415 BC. Hemilitron (Bronze, 20.5 mm, 6.54 g, 3 h). Pan, holding a conch shell in his upraised right hand and, with his left, holding a lagobolon over his left shoulder, riding a goat prancing to right; below, Corinthian helmet to right. Rev. [IMEPAIO] Nike flying to left, holding an aphlaston bound with a fillet with her right hand and the lower part of her robes with her left; in the field to left, six pellets (= hexonkion). Buceti 92. Calciati 27. HGC 2, 474. SNG Copenhagen 318. SNG Morcom 598. A lovely coin, struck from beautifully made dies of the finest Classical style, nicely centered and with an attractive green-brown patina. Nearly extremely fine.
