ΑΚΡΑ Eagle, with open wings, standing to right on the belly of a dead hare, tearing at it with his beak; behind the eagle on the left, crab to right; border of dots. Rev. Crab with open claws; below, three pellets and shrimp to left . AMB 265 (same dies). Calciati 50 (same dies). SNG Morcom 523. Westermark 828 (O16/R26). Very rare with the crab on the obverse. An exceptional piece, one of the finest of all known Akragantine bronzes! Beautifully struck from fresh dies and with a lovely green-brown patina. Minor striking flatness on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
