CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 280-228 BC. Diobol (Silver, 11.5 mm, 0.99 g, 5 h). Head of Athena to left, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with Skylla. Rev. TA The infant Herakles, nude, crouching three-quarters to right, strangling a serpent in each hand; in the field to left, monogram of MI; in the exergue, thunderbolt. Côte 570. Diobols, Series I, Type 274. HN III - (but cf. 1068 but with Athena's head to right and without this monogram). SNG ANS 1472-3. SNG Copenhagen 1014-5. Vlasto 1455-9. Toned and with an unusual reverse. Slightly rough surfaces, otherwise, good very fine.
