CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 280-228 BC. Diobol (Silver, 13 mm, 1.02 g, 3 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet. Rev. [TAPANTIN] Herakles standing, facing, his torso turned to the right, lifting and strangling the Nemean lion, which he grasps in a choke hold; in the field to left, club; between his legs, ΦΙ. Vlasto 1404. HN III 1061. Sharply struck and a very handsome example. Extremely fine.
