CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 380-325 BC. Diobol (Silver, 12 mm, 1.08 g, 12 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing Attic helmet decorated with a hippocamp. Rev. Herakles standing, facing, his torso turned to the right, lifting and strangling the Nemean lion, which he grasps in a choke hold; in the field to left, club; between his legs, K. Diobols, Series E, Type 67. HN III 914. SNG ANS 1368-9. SNG Lockett 291 (this coin). Vlasto 1258-1259 (same dies). Nicely centered and toned. Heracles's head slightly flat struck and some minor marks, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
