PERSIA, Achaemenid Empire. Time of Darios I to Xerxes II, circa 485-420 BC. Daric (Gold, 15.5 mm, 8.28 g), struck for use in Asia Minor and the West, Sardes. Persian king moving to right, crowned, wearing robes and in the running-kneeling position, with quiver over his shoulder, holding transverse spear ending in a ball in his right hand and bow in his left. Rev. Irregular oblong incuse. Carradice Type IIIb, Group A/B, pl. XIII, 27. Meadows, Administration 321. Sharp and clear. Minor marks and a minor flan fault on the obverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
