LUCANIA. Thurium. Circa 400-350 BC. Distater (Silver, 27 mm, 15.84 g, 3 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing Attic helmet adorned with Skylla to right on the bowl and a griffin to right on the neck guard. Rev. ΘΟΥΡΙΩΝ Bull butting to right, his head turned slightly to his right; in the exergue, grey mullet swimming to right. HN III 1803. Noe C.2 (same dies). SNG ANS 958 (same dies). Beautifully toned and particularly attractive. Almost imperceptible hairline crack, otherwise, extremely fine.
