KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’. 336-323 BC. Stater (Gold, 8.58 g 4), “Amphipolis”, Macedonian mint, struck circa 330-320 BC. Helmeted head of Athena to left, with serpent coiled on the helmet bowl. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Nike standing left, holding wreath in her right hand and stylis in her left; to left, trident head to left. Price 175. A lustrous and very attractive coin, very well struck. Slightly traces of double-striking on the obverse, otherwise, a nearly perfect piece, virtually as struck.
