KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 20 mm, 4.25 g, 1 h), struck posthumously, in an uncertain mint in western Asia Minor, late 4th century - circa 280. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on throne, holding eagle in his right hand and long scepter in his left; below throne, monogram of ΘEY . Price 2783. A very rare variety, not illustrated in Price; attractively toned and centered. Extremely fine.
