KINGS OF THRACE. Lysimachos, 305-281 BC. Stater (Gold, 21 mm, 8.44 g, 12 h), struck posthoumously, Kallatis, circa 150-125. Diademed head of Alexander the Great to right, with horn of Ammon over his ear. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ Athena seated to left on low-backed throne, holding Nike in her right hand, a spear in her left, and with her left elbow resting on a shield; below, trident to left; above Athena's right arm, NOY; on throne, KAΛ. Gerasimov, SCN 6 (1975), pp. 25-26. Müller -. SNG Berry 453 (same obverse die). Thompson -. Very rare, with only about 10 examples known. Powerfully struck. Flan slightly bent on the edge in striking, otherwise, extremely fine.
