CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 315 BC. Nomos (Silver, 22 mm, 7.93 g), circa 315 BC. Nude rider on horse rearing to right, holding the reins with his left hand and raising his right in salute; below horse's belly, ΣΑ. Rev. ΤΑΡΑΣ Phalanthos riding dolphin to left, extending his right hand to left and holding a palm branch with his left; below dolphin, ΣΥΜ; in field to right, crested Corinthian helmet. Fischer-Bossert 806 (d = Vlasto 652 same dies). HN III 941. Bright, clear and attractive. Struck from slightly worn dies, otherwise, extremely fine.
