CORINTHIA. Corinth. Circa 375-300 BC. Stater (Silver, 20 mm, 8.66 g, 9 h). Ϙ Pegasus flying to left. Rev. Head of Aphrodite to right, wearing Corinthian helmet with a leather neck guard; behind neck, hydria and N. BCD Corinth 123. Calciati 378. Ravel 1058. Bright and clear. Extremely fine.

From the Vineyard Collection, ex Ponterio, 13-14 March 1998, 434.

The hydria, a vessel that contained water used to dilute wine at symposia, actually had three handles: a horizontal handle on each side and a vertical handle running from the shoulder to the lip. For practical reasons, the die cutter omitted the horizontal handles.
