ARKADIA, Psophis. Circa 460s-440s BC. Obol (Silver, 1.03 g 1). Protome of the Keryneian Hind to right Rev. Fish swimming transversely to right between X and O; all within incuse square bordered by rays. BCD Peloponnesos -, but cf. 1669 ff.. Extremely rare. Slightly crystallized surfaces, otherwise, about extremely fine.

From the BCD collection.

While one of the more minor mints of the Peloponnesos, Psophis seems to have produced an enormous number of minor varieties within its 5th century coinage of silver fractions. This one is a particularly boldly struck example.
