Stunning Corinthian-type stater with crested helmet!
EPEIROS. Ambrakia. Circa 360-338 BC. Stater (Silver, 20.5 mm, 8.35 g, 6 h). A Pegasos flying left. Rev. Head of Athena to left, wearing Corinthian helmet with a full crest; behind head to right, here off the flan, spear or spear head. BMC 43 (same dies). Calciati 111/2. De Luynes, 1888 (same dies). Pozzi 1751 (same dies). Ravel, "Colts of Ambracia", 168 (A74/P109). Sharply struck and of very fine style - one of the very few Corinthian-type staters with Athena's helmet bearing a crest. Good extremely fine.
