MACEDON. “Aigai” Mygdones or Krestones. circa 485-470 BC. Trihemiobol (Silver, 12 mm, 1.07 g), He-goat moving right, head turned back to left; in field above, pellet within circle; to right, pellet. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. SNG Copenhagen 28. A scarce variety; nicely toned and very attractive. Very fine.

MACEDON. Amphipolis. Pseudo-autonomous issue, 2nd century AD. (Bronze, 16 mm, 3.52 g, 5 h), Diademed head of Zeus (?) to left. Rev. AMΦΙΠΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ Eagle standing facing on thunderbolt, head to right, holding wreath in its beak. Gaebler p.37, 46 pl.IX 20 (same obverse die) SNG ANS -. BMC -. A very rare example with sharp details and traces of the original minting luster. A exceptional and very interesting coin. Reverse slightly off center, otherwise, extremely fine.
