BAKTRIA, Indo-Greek Kingdom. Menander I, Circa 165/55-130 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17mm, 2.41 g 12). ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΣΩTHPOΣ ΜΕΝΑΝΔΟΥ Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Menander to right, wearing crested helmet covered with pelt of scales and adorned with head of wing. Rev. Athena Alkidemos advancing left; in field to right, monogram. Bopearachchi 15E. HGC 12, 193. A beautiful example with old cabinet toning. Extremely fine.

Kanishka, diademed and crowned, standing facing, his head turned to left, sacrificing over altar and holding goad and scepter; flame at shoulder. Rev. Orlagno, nimbate and wearing eagle-crested helmet and fillet, standing facing, head right, holding filleted lance in right hand, and sword with eagle's head hilt in left; tamgha to right. MK 63. Very fine.
