GAUL, Aedui. 50-30 BC. Unit (Potin, 20mm, 4.85 g 3), 'Dreigehörnter Stierkopf' type. Helmeted head to right. Rev. Horned animal with bull’s head prancing right. Allen 315. Castelin 558. Gäumann 21. LT 5253. A beautiful piece with a very dark glance patina. Extremely fine.

GAUL, Parisii. Circa 50-30 BC. Unit (Potin, 19mm, 4.19 g 12). Helmeted head of Diana to right, surmounted by crescent; ornaments around. Rev. Horse standing left; above, spiral ornament; below, pellet and crescent. Allen 475. DT 682. Gäumann 144. LT 7820. A very rare and fascinating issue. Extremely fine.

CENTRAL EUROPE, Vindelici. Circa mid 1st century BC. 'Büschelquinar' (Silver, 14mm, 1.83 g). Head devolved into a bush. Rev. Horse prancing to left; three pellets above. Dembski 427 ff. var. Flesche 370-371 var. Kellner 217. Rare. A lovely example in excellent metal. Well-centered and nicely toned. Extremely fine.

CENTRAL EUROPE, Boii. Late 1st century BC. Obol (Silver, 10mm, 0.46 g). Pentagram with a central pellet. Rev. Stylized forepart of pegasos to left. Dembski 779. Flesche -. Rare. An attractive piece with light toning. Reverse struck from a slightly worn die, otherwise, good very fine.

CENTRAL EUROPE, Helvetii. Early 1st century BC. Cast unit (Potin, 18mm, 3.83 g 3), 'Zürcher' type. Thunderbolt. Rev. Mountain goat standing left, its head turned back to right. BMC G xxxiii, S 377. SLM 905 ff. Toned and with a very nice reverse. Very fine.

EASTERN CELTS. Circa 2nd century BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24 mm, 12.59 g, 11 h), imitating Philip II of Macedon. Celticized head of Zeus to right. Rev. Celticized horse to left, rider holding branch in his left hand. CCCBM I 28. DT 9870. A magnificent, unusually well-struck example with excellent surfaces. Very minor flatness, otherwise. Extremely fine.

EASTERN CELTS. Late 2nd-1st century BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 33mm, 16.36 g 1), imitating Thasos. Celticized wreathed head of Dionysos to right. Rev. Celticized Herakles standing facing, holding club in his right hand and lion skin with his left; ribbed and dotted imitative legend. Göbl OTA pl. 48/49, Klasse V. Lanz 983-994. A nicely toned example struck on a wavy flan. About extremely fine.

About extremely fine.

GAUL, Massalia. Circa 350-215 BC. Obol (Silver, 10mm, 0.60 g 6). Bare head of Apollo to right, with long sideburns. Rev. M-A Wheel of four spokes. Depeyrot 10. SNG Copenhagen 722. Nicely toned and well-struck. Reverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, good very fine.

CALABRIA, Tarentum. Circa 325-280 BC. Hemilitron (Silver, 8mm, 0.33 g 6). Scallop shell; to left, K (retrograde). Rev. Dolphin to left. SNG Copenhagen -. SNG France -. Vlasto 1553. A nicely toned and attractive example. Minor scratch on reverse, otherwise, good very fine.

CALABRIA, Tarentum. Circa 276-272 BC. Obol (Gold, 9mm, 0.85 g 9). Head of youthful Herakles in lion skin headdress to right. Rev. ΤΑΡΑΣ Phalanthos riding dolphin to left, holding kantharos in his right hand and trident in his left. Fischer-Bossert G34. HN III 992 (but wrong legends). Well centered. A few light marks and scratches, otherwise, very fine.

CALABRIA, Tarentum. Circa 280-228 BC BC. Hemilitron (Silver, 7mm, 0.29 g 12). Cockle shell. Rev. Dolphin to right. HN III 1074. Toned. Very fine.

LUCANIA, Herakleia. Circa 432-420 BC. Diobol (Silver, 12mm, 1.17 g 7). Head of Athena to right, wearing Attic helmet decorated with Skylla. Rev. Herakles standing right, wrestling with the Nemean lion. HN III 1360. Van Keuren 38. An exceptionally nice example of this usually poorly struck issue. Extremely fine.

LUCANIA. Herakleia. Circa 330-300 BC. Diobol (Silver, 13 mm, 0.96 g, 8 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing Attic helmet decorated with Skylla. Rev. Herakles standing front, holding club in right hand, bow and arrow in left, lion's skin draped over left arm; Nike holding wreath in left field; to left, EY; to right, Σ. SNG ANS 70. Beautifully toned. Good very fine.

LUCANIA, Metapontum. Circa 520-510 BC. Stater (Silver, 27mm, 7.86 g 12). META Ear of barley with eight grains; around, border of dots within two concentric linear circles. Rev. Ear of barley with eight grains, all incuse; rayed border. Jameson 260. Noe 75. A nicely toned example. Very fine.

LUCANIA, Thourioi. Circa 400-350 BC. Stater (Silver, 21mm, 7.61 g 4). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet adorned with Skylla hurling a stone to right. Rev. ΘΟΥΡΙΩΝ Bull butting to right, his head lowered; in exergue, fish to right. HN III 1800. SNG ANS 1007. A charming coin with a very nice head of Athena. Minor cleaning marks on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.

LUCANIA, Thourioi. Circa 400-350 BC. Stater (Silver, 22mm, 7.44 g 1). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet adorned with Skylla to right. Rev. ΘΟΥΡΙΩΝ Bull with lowered head butting to right; in exergue, fish to right. HN III 1799-1802. Corrosion on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.

LUCANIA. Sybaris. Circa 550-510 BC. Stater (Silver, 28 mm, 7.89 g, 12 h). VM Bull standing to left on dotted ground line, his head turned back to right; all within a border of dots. Rev. Bull standing to right, on dotted ground line; around, border of dots; all incuse. HN III 1729. SNG ANS 834 ff. Nicely toned and sharply struck. Good very fine.

LUCANIA, Velia. Circa 400-340 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 22mm, 7.37 g 11). Head of Athena to left, wearing Attic helmet adorned with a griffin. Rev. ΥEΛHTΩN Lion walking to right; above, owl flying right. HN III 1281. Williams 243 (same dies). Die break on the obverse, otherwise, about very fine.

LUCANIA, Velia. Circa 280 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 21mm, 6.84 g 1). Head of Athena to left, wearing crested Attic helmet adorned with Pegasus; behind neck, IE in shallow incuse square. Rev. [ΥEΛHTΩN] Lion attacking stag to left. HN III 1318. Williams 543 (same dies). Minor cleaning scratches, otherwise, good fine.

BRUTTIUM, Kaulonia. Circa 475-425 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 20mm, 7.94 g 5). [KAΥ]Λ Apollo advancing right, holding laurel branch overhead, small daimon running right on Apollo's left arm; stag standing right before with head reverted. Rev. KAΥΛ (retrograde) Stag standing right. HN III 2046. Noe 93. SNG ANS 180. Nicely toned. Struck from slightly worn dies, otherwise, very fine.

BRUTTIUM, Kroton. Circa 400-350 BC. Triobol (Silver, 13mm, 1.05 g 2). KPO (retrograde) Tripod with lion’s feet; to right, olive sprig. Rev. Upright thunderbolt; to left, star; to right, eagle standing left on column, head turned right. HN III 2185. SNG ANS 416. Nicely toned and very well struck. Extremely fine.

BRUTTIUM, Kroton. Circa 350-300 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 20mm, 7.84 g 0), signed by Ai... and Δ.... Eagle left with spread wings, holding hare in its talons; to lower left, AI. Rev. KPO Tripod with domed cover and fillets hanging from the handles; to right, stork standing left on Δ. HN III 2175. SNG ANS 369. Minor die break on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.

BRUTTIUM, Rhegion. Circa 415/0-387 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 22mm, 17.20 g 1). Lion's mask facing. Rev. ΡΗΓΙΝΟΝ Laureate head of Apollo to right, with olive sprig behind. Herzfelder 86. HN III 2496. A lovely example with most attractive old cabinet toning. Struck on a shlightly short flan, otherwise, very fine.

BRUTTIUM, Rhegion. Circa 415/0-387 BC. Litra (Silver, 10mm, 1.07 g 6). Lion’s mask facing. Rev. PH Olive sprig, with two leaves and two berries. Herzfelder pl. XI, Jα. SNG ANS 673. Nicely toned and struck on an unusually thick and heavy flan. Good very fine.

BRUTTIUM, Rhegion. Triens (Bronze, 24mm, 12.67 g 3). Jugate heads of Apollo and Artemis to right; behind, [Θ] or [phiale]. Rev. PHΓI-NΩN Tripod; to right, four pellets. HN III 2550. SNG München 1673. An attractive piece with glossy green patina. Minor corrosion, otherwise, very fine.

SICILY, Abakainon. Circa 420-400 BC. Litra (Silver, 11mm, 0.51 g 12). ΑΒΑΚ Laureate head of Zeus to right, with a full beard and long hair bound into a bun at the back. Rev. ΑΙ-ΝΙ Boar standing right. De Luynes 836 var. SNG Copenhagen 3 var. Rare. Nicely toned and of very attractive style. Minor traces of corrosion, otherwise, about extremely fine.

SICILY, Abakainon. Circa 420-400 BC. Litra (Silver, 11mm, 0.48 g 12). Head of nymph facing slightly to left. Rev. ABA Sow and piglet standing left on double exergual line. Bertino pl. XII, 21. SNG ANS 1293. Dark find patina. Minor corrosion on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.

SICILY, Akragas. Circa 520-500 BC. Didrachm (Silver, 23§mm, 8.72 g 2). AKP[A-C]ANTOΣ Eagle standing left, wings closed. Rev. Crab. SNG ANS 913. SNG Lockett 687. Beautifully toned and of charming late archaic style. Reverse struck somewhat off center, otherwise, good very fine.

SICILY, Akragas. Circa 480/478-470 BC. Didrachm (Silver, 19mm, 8.79 g 9). AK-PA Eagle standing left, wings closed. Rev. Crab; below, small male head to right; all within shallow incuse. SNG ANS 958-9 var. and SNG München 59-62 var. (with eagle to right). Very rare with eagle to left. Struck slightly off center, otherwise, very fine.

SICILY, Akragas. Circa 460-446 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27mm, 16.98 g 1). AKRAC-ANTOΣ (partially retrograde) Sea eagle standing left on Ionic capital. Rev. SICILY, Akragas. Circa 460-450/46 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25mm, 16.78 g 1). AKRAC-ANTOΣ (partially retrograde) Eagle standing left, with his wings closed. Rev. Crab within shallow incuse. SNG ANS 964 ff. SNG München 65 ff. Harshly cleaned, otherwise, very fine.

SICILY, Akragas. Circa 450/46-439 BC. Litra (Silver, 11mm, 0.57 g 1). AKPA Eagle, with closed wings, standing left on Ionic column capital. Rev. ΛΙ (retrograde). SNG ANS 986 ff var. (ΛΙ not retrograde). A rare variety with retrograde ΛΙ (for Litra). Good very fine.

SICILY, Akragas. Circa 450-415/06 BC. Tetras (Bronze, 24mm, 10.00 g 12). AKPA Eagle standing right, his head lowered, holding hare in its claws. Rev. Crab; below, ••• (mark of value) and crayfish left. SNG ANS 1040. A most attractive example with a beautiful dark brown patina. Fields smoothed, otherwise, extremely fine.

[AKPAΓANTINON] Crab holding serpent in left claw; six pellets (mark of value) around, conch shell (?) and octopus below. CNS 40. SNG ANS 1031. A few cleaning marks, otherwise, about very fine.

SICILY, Akragas. 275-240 BC. Litra (Silver, 11mm, 0.73 g 12). Laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. AKPAΓANT Eagle standing right, with his head to left. SNG ANS 1112 (same dies). Rare. Struck from a worn obverse die but with a very neat reverse. Very fine.
