KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 16mm, 4.28 g 1), Abydus (?), c. 328-323. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on backless throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and, in his right, eagle standing right with closed wings; in field to left, small figure of Hermes standing to left; below throne, monogram. Price 1503. Very slightly off center on obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.


From an American collection, privately acquired from Harlan J. Berk in September 1993.
