Faustina Junior, Augusta, 147-175. Sestertius (Orichalcum, 31 mm, 27.05 g, 12 h), Rome, struck under Marcus Aurelius, 161-176. FAVSTINA AVGVSTA Draped bust of Faustina to right, with double band of pearls and hair elaborately waved in nearly vertical lines, and fastened in chignon low at back of head; a row of curls down the neck. Rev. LAETITIA / S - C Laetitia standing front, her head turned to left, holding wreath in her right hand and long vertical scepter with her left. BMC 924 (Marcus Aurelius). Cohen 149. RIC 1654 (Marcus Aurelius). A lovely example with most attractive tiber patination. Very fine.
