A very rare Obol imitating the famous Athens Tetradrachms

CILICIA, Uncertain. 4th Century BC. Obol (Silver, 9mm, 0.71 g 12). Forepart of griffin to left. Rev. Owl standing left, head facing; behind, olive spray and crescent. SNG Levante 208 corr. (same obverse die, misdescribed as forepart of Pegasos). SNG Paris - . Very rare. Struck from a worn obverse die, otherwise, very fine.


The reverse closely copies the famous classical Athens Tetradrachms, but turnes the owl to left.
