ETRURIA. Populonia. Circa 3rd century BC. 20 Asses (Silver, 22 mm, 8.42 g), the ‘Second Metus Group’. Diademed and facing head of Metus, with protruding tongue; below, XX (value mark). Rev. Blank, but with traces of 'designs'. HGC 103. HN III 142. SNG ANS 78-79 (this obverse die). Vecchi Series 37.220 (this coin). Evenly toned and with a powerful obverse. Struck on an oblong flan, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
