CARTHAGE. Circa 350-320 BC. Stater (Gold, 18 mm, 9.23 g, 7 h). Head of Tanit to left, wearing triple pendant earring, necklace, tied at the back and hung with eight pendants, and a wreath of grain leaves. Rev. Horse standing to right; in field to right, before horse’s forelegs, three pellets arranged as an inverted triangle. Jenkins & Lewis Group IIIh (both dies unrecorded). With a wonderful old, reddish cabinet tone. Extremely fine.

Sold on behalf of the Compagnie Bancaire Helvétique, Switzerland, ex Monnaies et Medailles XIX, 5 June 1959, 599, most probably from the Orrestano hoard of 1925 (IGCH 2264 - this pedigree provided by J.V.).
