THRACE. Philippopolis. Geta, 209-211. Pentassarion (Bronze, 30 mm, 14.85 g, 12 h). AYT K Π CEΠTI-MIOC ΓETAC Laureate bust of Geta to right, his bare chest shown in a heroic manner and with slight drapery over his far shoulder. Rev. MHTP ΦΙΛIΠΠOΠOΛEΩC Bunardzhik, one of the six hills in Philippopolis, surmounted by a statue of Hercules standing to left, holding his club with his right hand, and apples and a lion's skin with his left. Moushmov 440. Varbanov 1615 corr (bust type, but same dies as illustration). Attractive green patina highlighting a wonderfully preserved heroic portrait of Geta. Nearly extremely fine.
