Heraclius, with Heraclius Constantine, 610-641. Solidus (Gold, 13 mm, 4.49 g, 6 h), Carthage or Sardinia, Indictional year 1 (A) = 627-628. D N ERACLIV ET ERA CON PP [A] Facing busts of Heraclius and Heraclius Constantine, both crowned and draped; between them, cross. Rev. VICTORIA AVGG A / CONOB Cross potent on base and two steps. DOC 218. MIB 84-9. SB 867 and note. Clear and attractive. Typical soft strike, otherwise, good very fine.

This Solidus has been struck on a flan that is broader and thinner than usually seen on the regular Carthagian issues. It has been suggested that these may come from a mint on the island of Sardinia.
